Garside Fruit Farm Beer Can Chicken

Here are instructions of how to make cook your own Beer Can Chicken.

We have used a eight pound Garside's Fruit Farm Free Range Chicken, one can of beer, our own Garside's Fruit Farm Apple Wood for the smoker.

Then place the chicken over the beer can in the stand. I then put a rub on the chicken. The rub is just a mixture of different spices that I chose. I mix all the spices together in a bowl and after rubbing a bit of olive oil over the chicken I gently rub the spices into the chicken.

I then place the chicken on a preheated BBQ with the apple wood in the pre-soaked smoker box. Water was added to the bottom of the pan the chicken sits in to keep the chicken moist. Often beer boils over and adds to the water.

The baking time is similar to baking in the oven, perhaps a little faster. I keep the BBQ between 400 to 425 degrees, and cook 15 mins per pound. Until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165F.

Finally we have a delicious moist chicken dinner. This is a relatively easy way to prepare a roast chicken with little clean up required, and especially great for the summer as you do not have to turn on your oven!
